Citymapper chatbot redesign project
Design ideas for a Citymapper conversational user interface.
Project Information
Note: I have no professional affiliation with the Citymapper app; This is simply an opportunity for me to exercise my design skills and process.
Each city has a character and I wanted to give that character a voice so I used chatbot technology to enhance the personality of the Citymapper app, injecting commonly used colloquial phrases, mimicking the accent of the city that’s being explored. My focus of this redesign was the 3 core features ‘Get me somewhere’, Get me home’ and Get me to work’. On the home screen I positioned these 3 main CTA’s in a custom Tab bar. The layout is clean and clear, copy is large and easy to read. The screen optimised typeface San Francisco is used instead of Citymapper’s usual ‘Proxima Nova Soft’. Also rather than surfacing every type of commute – this redesign reduces the noise on screen and shows just one recommended journey. Alternative journeys can be accessed by swiping from right to left. The number of alternative journeys is shown by a page control.
